A popular brand has issued a national retirement of two types of its fish due to pollution problems.
The Ahoufa Ahumado fish, based in New York, remembers its cold smoked salmon and its cold smoked lubina, according to a press release from Wednesday of the drug and food administration of the United States. The withdrawal was issued because the products may have been contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes, a bacterium that causes diseases.
Two lots are affected by this food warning, including the cold smoked salmon of haifa, which is sold in 8 oz packages, with the lot 219 code and the cold ahumada lubina of Haifa, sold in 8 OZ packages, with lot 212 code.
Fish pollution was “discovered after sampling by the Department of Agriculture and Markets of Food Inspectors of the State of New York, and the subsequent analysis of the Food Laboratory staff revealed the presence of Listeria Monocytogenes,” according to the press release.
The two affected products were sold throughout the country through retail stores and distributors. The salmon and lubina were packaged in a cardboard with flexible plastic.

Although diseases have not been reported to date, consumers are urged to return the products removed to the purchase place to obtain a complete refund.
Infections caused by Listeria Monocytogenes can lead to serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, older people and people with weakened immune systems.

“Although healthy people can suffer only short -term symptoms, such as high fever, severe headache, rigidity, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, L. mono -andtogenes infection can cause spontaneous abortions and deaths among pregnant women,” says the FDA.
According to the centers for disease control and prevention (CDC), Listeria infection is the third main cause of death due to diseases transmitted by food in the United States, killing approximately 260 people per year.

Many foods have been taken from the shelves this year due to the risk of a listeria infection. Only two weeks ago, multiple frozen endic vegetable bags were removed because they may have been contaminated with Listeria.
The withdrawal products were sold in frozen transparent plastic bags of 2.5 pounds under the endic label. An affected product is peas and carrots, with lot 110625, the production date of June 11, 2025, and the use of June 10, 2027. The second affected product is frozen mixed vegetables, with the LOT 170625, the production date of June 17, 2025 and the use of June 16, 2027.
Last month, the Middlefield’s original cooperative installation in Ohio withdrew more than 5,000 pounds of cheese due to possible Listeria with Listeria.
Also in August, Doehler Dry Ingredient Solutions, LLC, recalled boxes of the Mark dry fruits variety package about Listeria’s concerns.
