Lost in the madness of Bayern Munich’s 5-4 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League was a very, very interesting report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Julian Agardi (captured by @iMiaSanMia).

Last week, the Newcastle United star’s agent, Anthony Gordon, was reportedly in Germany to meet with Bayern Munich to discuss possible terms for his client:

Anthony Gordon’s agent, Gordon Stipic-Wipfler, was in Munich last week to talk to FC Bayern. Specific figures have been discussed. Newcastle are demanding around €86 million as things stand. Bayern will not pay that amount but will not give up the player. The aim is to reach an agreement with Gordon and then negotiate the price down with Newcastle. In case Gordon’s transfer fails, Bayern already have alternatives in mind. (@AgardiJulian, @cfbayern)

BFW Analysis

If the report is true (and there is no reason to think it is not at this point), it is a very interesting development for the Bavarians.

Gordon seems to be the player that Bayern Munich have specifically targeted and look like they may be able to get. As stated in the report, personal terms will not be an issue, but Newcastle United’s expectation of a transfer fee is really what will determine the success or failure of this deal.
