Police held a news conference on Saturday to provide an update on Kada Scott’s disappearance and issued a statement saying investigators had “recovered human remains believed to be” hers. But John Stanford, deputy commissioner of the Philadelphia Police Department, stopped short of confirming that the remains found in a wooded area behind an abandoned school were Scott’s.
An anonymous tip led police to the area they had previously searched, according to Stanford. He added that the remains, believed to be that of a woman, were found in a shallow grave. He added that it appeared that the person had been dead for several days.
He added: “We will not confirm at this stage that he was almost Scott because that must be done by the medical examiner’s office.” “There is still a lot of work to be done.”
Stanford said investigators have been in contact with Scott’s family about developments but declined to answer specific questions, citing an active investigation.
