The Florida State Seminoles are welcoming a new punter to Tallahassee. Daniel Hughes, who spent the 2025 season with the New Mexico Lobos, signed with FSU.
Hughes is 27 years old and originally from Melbourne, Australia, and is 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 235 pounds. He has three years of eligibility remaining and has a 4.0 GPA. He also has a respectable following on social media and this article sheds some light on his uniqueness.

Hughes had a great year at New Mexico after spending his previous season in JUCO. He put up numbers that were not school records only due to the lack of total number of punts in New Mexico’s excellent offense. His net average of 43.6 yards per punt (on 37 total punts) would have been good for the second-best mark in Mountain West Conference history, as well as becoming a New Mexico school record.
