Match summary
He league leaders, who comfortably occupy first place, visited our fifth ranked team but at first the gap in the table was not noticed. While the visitors dominated possession (creating half chances through Cordes and Wenninger), our attacks, although less frequent, were more incisive. First, Julia Grünwald headed the ball from a promising position after a corner kick, then Sara Grabovac narrowly missed on a solo run.
That the women’s Bundesliga leader ADMIRAL Vienna went into half-time with an advantage was entirely our fault. While we were trying to build from the back, a pass from Hamzic towards goalkeeper Lara Ritter was too weak, Triendl took advantage, intercepted the pass and finished (39th minute) – to score the goal. 0-1 at half-time.
Our team continued to play with energy after the restart, but only sporadically found a way to break the deadlock. strong violet defense – Julia Grünwald and Sophia Schirmbrand, with a double chance after a clever corner kick, were the exceptions. Instead, the visitors dictated the play, with Cordes firing over the bar from distance for Austria’s best chance in an otherwise quiet second half.

I’m very proud because it was a really close match! Against the best team in Austria we showed that we are competitive. What I’m most happy about is that we defended ourselves physically, even in aerial duels, and we conceded absolutely nothing in set pieces. The performance was spot on. Against such important rivals, small details make the difference, and one of them decided today’s match. I’m happy that we have definitely left our mark. We will build on this positive momentum in the upcoming matches!
