More than four years have passed since Sergio Ramos left Real Madrid, but the shadow of the legendary captain still looms over the Santiago Bernabéu.

Even as the years go by, the bond between player and club remains strong and, to make things interesting, the 39-year-old has hinted that he could be open to that final chapter.

Sergio Ramos’ enormous hint on social networks

After it became known that Ramos will not continue in Monterrey, the Instagram account MadridXtra published a montage of the defender dressed in white with the legend: “Breaking news: Sergio Ramos has decided to leave Monterrey as a free agent. One last dance.”

Curiously, the publication received a ‘like’ from Ramos himself. While it may be a simple gesture, for a player who carefully calculates his public movements, it could be interpreted as a clear nod to his wishes, SPORT reports.

Ramos’ departure in 2021 was nothing short of a soap opera, marred by contract disputes and a strained relationship with Florentino Pérez.

After a spell at PSG and an emotional return to Sevilla, Ramos has spent the last two years competing in Mexico.

Now, with his contract in Monterrey ending, he is looking for a new challenge, even at 39 years old.

Ramos feels physically capable of remaining in the elite. His main motivation continues to be the Spanish team.

Although coach Luis de la Fuente previously told him that it was not in his plans, Ramos has not given up on the dream of the 2026 World Cup.

He knows that to have any chance of adding to his record of 180 caps, he must play in a top-tier European league and there is no bigger stage than the one he called home for 16 years.
