CARDIFF, Wales (AP) — All of Wales’ fears were realized as South Africa dominated their rugby mismatch to an inevitable 73-0 victory in a half-full Principality Stadium on Saturday.

The Springboks handed Wales their worst home defeat, and Wales were tied in Cardiff for the first time since 1967.

But South Africa’s triumphant end to an unbeaten tour of Europe was marred by Eben Etzebeth gouging out Alex Mann’s eyes in a late melee. Etzebeth received a straight red card in his 141st test for the Springboks, extending the record.

South Africa scored 11 tries, two of them from fly-half Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, whose nine from 11 shots on goal took his personal haul to 28 points. The player of the match was the demolition midfielder André Esterhuizen.
