Report: Jamal Musiala’s contract extension at Bayern Munich brings his salary “closer to 30 million”

Jamal Musiala’s contract extension with Bayern Munich last season was a big story. For one thing, the extension reportedly took the 21-year-old to the same salary as the higher-earning Harry Kane, €25 million a year. He was also reportedly granted a release clause in his contract, a controversial move for the Bavarian giants.

But according to Bild, Musiala’s contract is even more beneficial for the former Chelsea FC player than it seems. Inconsistent German media reports, captured by @iMiaSanMia, Musiala could earn even more than initially expected:

Jamal Musiala is currently FC Bayern’s highest-paid player and earns more than Harry Kane. With all the bonuses and clauses included, Musiala’s salary at Bayern is close to 30 million euros gross per year.

So what exactly does “approaching 30 million” mean? It is reasonable to assume, if this report is true, that this extra money is related to bonuses. They could even be pretty obscure bonuses, which would explain why they were initially overlooked.

But this is also the case with Bild, which likes to report very inconsistently on Bayern salaries. So maybe they’re just wrong.
