Kayle Osborne stopped 21 shots for New York, which came within three points of the Scepters and needed a regulation victory to avoid being eliminated from playoff contention.

The overtime result ended the Sirens’ postseason hopes.
Raygan Kirk made 32 saves for Toronto, which stayed two points behind the Ottawa Charge for the fourth and final playoff spot.
The Scepters would have overtaken the Charge for that spot with a regulation win, but they will wait to see Ottawa’s outcome against Boston on Wednesday.
Toronto didn’t play with the urgency of a team with a playoff spot on the line. The Scepters had four shots in 20 minutes and only 10 in 40 minutes. The Scepters came in with the league’s worst offense, seven goals behind last-place Seattle (58) and the second-worst power play. But after a 2-0 win over Minnesota on Sunday thanks to two power-play goals, their first of the season, Toronto failed to keep the momentum going.

Entering Tuesday, Kirk had three shutouts in his last six starts dating to March 15 with a .968 save percentage during that stretch. Three of the five goals he allowed in his last six games came against New York in his only start against the Sirens this season.
