The Spartans fell three spots in the latest AP Top 25 released Monday, ranking 12th in this week’s updated poll. Michigan State lost its last game at Nebraska (which moved up to No. 10), which explains the drop in the updated ranking.

Michigan State is one of six Big Ten teams included in this week’s media rankings. The Spartans were joined by Michigan (No. 2), Purdue (No. 5), Nebraska (No. 10), Illinois (No. 16) and Iowa (No. 19). USC, Indiana and UCLA also received votes in this week’s poll.
Michigan State is 12-2 overall this year and has a 2-1 record in Big Ten play. The Spartans will host USC, which fell from the rankings this week, on Monday.
