US Forged Rings (USFR) announced plans to establish a factory in North Carolina. The manufacturer of large steel components expects the project to reach an investment of $875 million and create up to 625 jobs.
The company did not provide details on when the facility would begin production.
USFR manufactures specialty steel products and large diameter steel fabrications. Products include critical service fabrications, specialty tubular and forgings used in power generation, industrial components and a variety of other industries, such as the marine, mining, defense and liquefied natural gas (LNG) markets.
USFR anticipates the project will be developed in three phases, with the first two adding 625 jobs. The company will locate the manufacturing facility adjacent to Nucor Steel’s processing plant through a supply chain partnership and will be located along the Chowan River, which flows into Albemarle Sound and then the Atlantic Ocean.
“This investment in the first two phases of our facility in Hertford County will bring good-paying jobs to the United States, substitute imports, reduce dependence on foreign suppliers and increase the resilience of the American economy,” said USFR President and CEO Giacomo Sozzi.
