The Detroit Lions were unable to make their mark in the NFC against the defending Super Bowl champions on Sunday night, falling to the Philadelphia Eagles 16-9.

The Lions played as well on defense as they have all season, but the offense couldn’t get anything going. The pressure of the Eagles’ pass rush kept quarterback Jared Goff off his game all night, and a handful of blown conversions and bad decisions left points on the board that could have been the difference in the game.

The loss keeps the Lions out of first place in the NFC North with matchups with all three division foes still on the schedule going forward. With all the failures on offense Sunday night, there were also some spectacular individual performances to build on for Detroit’s future.

Let’s take a look at some of the Lions’ most notable individual performances on Sunday night:

Stallion: Jack Campbell

Linebacker Jack Campbell continued his All-Pro campaign Sunday night, leading the Lions defense to one of its best performances of the season despite the loss.

Campbell could take credit for at least five stops on the Eagles’ offense and, as usual, was involved in nearly all of the gang’s tackles. He finished with seven total tackles.

Failure: Jared Goff

Quarterback Jared Goff played one of his worst games as a Lion on Sunday night and couldn’t get into any kind of rhythm due to constant pressure from the Eagles defense. Goff was sacked only twice but took several hits.

Goff entered the game as the league’s most accurate passer, but completed fewer than 40% of his passes against the Eagles. He finished 14 of 37 for 255 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Stallion: Penei Sewell

Despite the overall ineptitude of the Lions’ offensive line on Sunday night, Penei Sewell turned in a monster performance as always.

Sewell was a lead blocker on a couple of Lions plays despite clearly being bothered by an ankle issue during this game. He was the most consistent blocker on an inconsistent night.

Failure: Tate Ratledge

Rookie guard Tate Ratledge had a rough night from start to finish against the Eagles. Ratledge missed time early after suffering what appeared to be a knee issue, but returned to the game later only to be repeatedly crushed by the Eagles’ defensive line.

Ratledge was the Lions’ lowest-rated pass blocker on Sunday night, according to Pro Football Focus, allowing three hurries and three pressures.

Failure: Graham Glasgow

Center Graham Glasgow had another unsuccessful performance in Week 11, allowing constant pressure up the middle from the Eagles, who repeatedly rejected passes from Jared Goff if they weren’t already breathing down his neck.

Glasgow was seemingly beaten on every play by a combination of Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis. The Lions clearly had a plan to run up the middle on multiple drives, but couldn’t accomplish much with the offensive line collapsing starting up the middle.
