With Philadelphia’s decision to rest its starters and its announcement that six are officially ruled out against the Washington Commanders, McKee takes the field again as the Eagles’ starter in another regular-season finale.

Tanner McKee’s Week 18 start against the Commanders could put him on the radar of other NFL teams.
Some members of the Eagles contingent have fantasized about McKee being the full-time starter. That will never happen, but the upcoming game could serve as an audition for some of the QB-needy teams on the pro football landscape.
That is the nature of the beast. McKee has never publicly expressed his feelings about any of this or his desire to start somewhere else. However, we know that it is a competitor. We have yet to meet a potential starting NFL signal-caller who admits he’s content with being a career backup.
Recently, McKee spoke to the media and expressed his excitement for the opportunity before him. We saw him last season in two games. Trust us. This young man knows what he is doing.
“I’m very excited for the opportunity, but every week leading up to it, I’ve been preparing to play in case I do. So every week it’s been pretty similar. It’s good to get more reps in practice, but I’m excited for the opportunity.”
Our guess? McKee shines in his Week 18 appearance for the Eagles. Some Birds fans are reigniting conversations about why he’s not the starter.

Don’t worry if you’re a die-hard Jalen Hurts fan. This is still your team and that is not going to change. That said, the upcoming offseason could spark conversations about the Eagles’ phone ringing and Tanner McKee’s name coming up as part of potential trade discussions.
