Tennessee (20-7, 10-4 SEC) defeated No. 18 Vanderbilt (21-6, 8-6), 69-65, on Saturday at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Commodores led, 35-31, at halftime.

Saturday’s victory clinched the Vols’ fifth consecutive 20-win season and seventh in the last nine years.

Ja’Kobi Gillespie had 17 points, three rebounds and three steals for Tennessee. He converted 6 of 14 field goal attempts, 3 of 7 three-point attempts and 2 of 2 free throw attempts. Gillespie was one of two Vols to score more than 10 points. His two free throws gave Tennessee a 68-65 lead with 13.2 seconds left in the contest.

Nate Ament recorded 13 points, nine rebounds and one assist and converted an eventual game-winning shot with 48.7 seconds left, making the score 66-65. Amari Evans finished with five points and made a free throw with 1.8 seconds left to provide Tennessee’s margin of victory.

Felix Okpara had eight points, four rebounds and a steal for the Vols.

Tennessee outrebounded Vanderbilt, 39-30, and forced 10 turnovers. Tyler Tanner led Vanderbilt with 16 points.
