The Texas UIL baseball playoffs will begin later this week with a total of five Lone Star State teams ranked nationally by MaxPreps, with bi-district matchups set with just a handful of exceptions.

The Tomball Cougars are at the top of those rankings, in the driver’s seat to not only win a Texas state championship but, possibly, a national title. They will begin their postseason journey with a first-round matchup against the Langham Creek (Houston) Lobos.
Texas’ five nationally ranked playoff contenders will compete for state titles in separate divisions, meaning there are no opportunities for those teams to cross paths in the playoffs.
