While the San Francisco 49ers have had a lot of success this year, they have also had one of the worst pass rushing units in the league.

Through 15 weeks, the 49ers have recorded just 16 sacks, the fewest in the league. That’s six fewer sacks than the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens, who have the fewest.

While trading Keion White and signing Clelin Ferrell has helped, San Francisco could still use more to give them a better chance of making the postseason in 2025.

Luckily for them, another pass rusher just hit the market, as the Miami Dolphins released Matthew Judon on Wednesday, making him a free agent.

Judon, 33, was a fifth-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in the 2016 NFL draft out of Grand Valley State. In his 10 seasons split between the Baltimore Ravens (2016-20), New England Patriots (2021-23), Atlanta Falcons (2024) and Miami Dolphins (2025), he made four Pro Bowls and recorded 429 tackles, 177 quarterback hits, 72 sacks and nine forced fumbles.

In 13 games for the Dolphins this year, he recorded 19 tackles and three quarterback hits while playing 41% of their defensive snaps.

Judon is no longer the pass rusher he once was, but he could certainly be part of a rotation that desperately needs help in San Francisco.
