According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Yamal is just one goal away from breaking a notable record in the Champions League.
Yamal chasing a record
If he manages to score or provide an assist in the first leg of the quarterfinals at the Metropolitano, he will become the youngest player to record 10 or more goal involvements in a single Champions League campaign.
That would allow him to surpass Erling Haaland, who previously set the benchmark during the 2019-20 season with Manchester City, achieving 10 goals and one assist at the age of 19 years and 212 days.
Yamal, by comparison, would reach the milestone at just 18 years and 269 days old.

So far in this season’s European campaign, the Barcelona winger has scored five goals and four assists in just eight appearances.
Despite missing two games, one due to injury against Newcastle United and another due to suspension against Slavia Prague, his influence has been immense whenever he has stepped on the pitch.
A solid season in the UCL
He was directly involved in Barcelona’s dominant 6-1 victory over Olympiacos, scoring a goal and an assist in the thrilling 3-3 draw against Club Brugge and playing a key role in the 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.
The teenager then put in standout performances in emphatic wins over Copenhagen and Newcastle, registering goals and assists, and also found the net again in the 1-1 draw against the English side.

Curiously, the only games in which he failed to contribute were against Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, games that ended in defeat for Barcelona.
Now, with Atlético Madrid standing in his way and a place in the semi-finals at stake, the stage is perfectly set for the teenager to make his mark again.
