Kansas Jayhawk News

Let’s do another recap link on Monday night’s big win. This one comes from Yahoo and looks at how recent losses are going to hurt Houston’s ranking.

The Cougars blew an early lead Monday night and couldn’t keep up with No. 14 Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse. The Jayhawks cruised to a dominant 69-56 victory, marking ESPN’s “Big Monday” 41st consecutive home victory under head coach Bill Self. It also came on the heels of a bad double-digit loss to Cincinnati last week and gave the Jayhawks their third win over a top-five opponent.

SI’s Dillon Davis thinks fans are asking the wrong question about Darryn Peterson.

Every year, a Kansas basketball season is ultimately judged by how the team plays in March. So the only question we should be asking right now is whether Peterson will play in the NCAA Tournament and whether this team has time to adjust to him being in the lineup more consistently (averaging 31 minutes of playing time over the last two games) before the tournament begins.

247Sports’ Michael Swain checks in on the guys who left Kansas to see how their seasons are going. AJ Storr has turned things around a bit and seems to be having a good year at Ole Miss. While it would be nice to have some more depth, I’m not sure if I’d really prefer to have any of these guys back other than maybe:

Zach Clemence (Texas A&M): The big man began the year as Texas A&M’s starting forward, but that lasted just one game. Clemence has since come off the bench and is averaging 14.6 minutes per game. It has been a year in his career, as he averages 6.4 points per game on 48.8% from the field and 44.4% from three-point range. He also records 3.0 rebounds per game. His two best games of the season were against South Carolina and Missouri, where he scored 21 points and 20 points, respectively.

This one is fun. We get some drama and antics with the KU camp groups trying to get tickets to the K-State game on March 7th. This one is worth a few minutes of your time today.

“Group 5 and 6, if anyone asks you, you got 2 🤫 but keep signing up for just a couple more turns!” Dyke wrote.

Fanside talks about Todd Reesing after ESPN named him one of the best players in college football since 2000.

Throughout Mangino’s last four years under center was star quarterback Todd Reesing. Coming out of high school, Reesing was considered a three-star student from Austin, Texas, according to the 247 Composite.

It’s hard to get football news this time of year, but 247Sports takes a look at some Kansas targets for the class of 2027.

The president made a nasty joke. (let me know if it surprises you)

Olympic gold medal winner Hilary Knight said Wednesday that a widely reported comment by President Donald Trump about the U.S. women’s team was a “disgusting joke” and that she is more focused on celebrating women’s achievements at the Milan Games.

This is a good paragraph to read about a former NBA player:

Jontay Porter, banned for life by the NBA for gambling in 2024 and currently awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to a related federal charge, plans to play for a new professional basketball league.

In DC, Casey Means, the candidate for Surgeon General, had a hearing in the Senate. I’m sure things like this are on the rise:

QOTD: A few days ago I saw a post on Bluesky that showed an NBA player shooting during warmups and made 23 straight 3-pointers from the wing. My first instinct was “that’s amazing and shows how these guys are on a different level”, but after a while I’m less impressed with this feat. We are in the middle of the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest season and when I was 12 years old, I made 23 of 25 free throws to win my district’s contest. If a 12-year-old can make 23 of 25 free throws, why should I be impressed when a grown man makes 23 in a row from just a few feet away? Am I wrong here?
