Just when we thought things could not become more strange with Jackson Powers-Johnson and the offensive line of Los Vegas Raiders, chief coach Pete Carroll has just found a way.
The strange situation involving Powers-Johnson and his initial work is well documented. In the low season, he went from an alleged headline in the center to have to compete for the right -wing work with Alex Cappa, a competition JPJ won.
Then, after sitting in week 2 with a brain shock, JPJ did not receive the start of the start in week 3, with a cap starting instead. That only added fuel to the fire that Raiders have some kind of problem with JPJ, although nobody really knows what Powers-Johnson is.
Raiders’ fans were cautiously optimistic that Powers-Johnson would return to their initial role in week 4, especially after Cappa Stunk last week.
However, Carroll announced on Friday that both Cappa and Powers-Johnson would play on the right guard on Sunday against the Chicago Bears.
“He is playing in this game,” Carroll said about Powers-Johnson when asked if he would display the same initial offensive line as last week, according to Nick Walters of KTNV. “Both will play.”
Unless Carroll plan to play one of them about Parham, who has had his own problems this season, it seems that the Raiders go to a rotation in the right guard in week 4 with Powers-Johnson and Cappa.
And the situation becomes more strange.
There is really no clear answer of why the Vegas insists on cutting JPJ’s work in favor of a veteran offensive liner that is clearly not better.
Las Vegas has not told the media, and they have not told Powers-Johnson, according to Vincent Bonsignore, of Las Vegas Review-Journal.
“Basically it is Jackson Powers-Johnson who has been identified as someone who needs to continue fighting for his work and fighting for the game time,” Bonsignore said in the first and 10 podcast. “He has not received any comments from his words about why it is, and all he could do is continue giving his best foot. He is open to play on guard, center, defensive line … I would not say that I was happy for that. I realized. I have been doing this a lot of time.”
To tell the truth, the entire offensive line of the Raiders has been bad this season, but JPJ is the only one who is forced to compete for his work weekly.
