After juggling a college assignment deadline due to competing in the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics for Team Canada and attending the opening ceremony, Canadian figure skater Madeline Schizas received the extension she requested from her McMaster University professor, Vic Satzewich.

“Hi Madeline. Wow! What a special moment! Yes, under the circumstances, an extension is perfectly fine. I would say focus on the competition right now and submit it directly when it is finished,” Satzewich wrote in an email response shared by the university. “The triple lutz triple toe combo is a pretty tough move to master, but you’ve got it. Good luck – the whole country is rooting for you and your teammates.”
