Dubai, United Arab Emirates — The UAE Ministry of Defense said on Tuesday that the drones that targeted the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the United Arab Emirates all came from Iraq.

The announcement likely means that Iranian-backed Shiite militias, which previously launched drones targeting Gulf Arab states in the Iran war, were likely behind Sunday’s attack on the nuclear power plant.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, although Iran and its proxies are suspected, as Tehran maintains a stranglehold on the Strait of Hormuz and UAE officials intensify their rhetoric against Iran.

The Ministry of Defense added that three more drones targeted the country over the past two days, without providing details about their targets.
