Japan’s prime minister led President Donald Trump through a room at Tokyo’s Akasaka Palace on Tuesday to see an honor guard and band accompanying him during their first meeting. Sanae Takaichi, the country’s first female prime minister who took office less than a week ago, stood alongside Trump during a presentation by the Japan Self-Defense Forces. When he finished, Takaichi, 64, stepped off a platform and began a clockwise tour of the room. Trump, 79, followed him, and when he stopped and stood next to the band, she reached out to nudge him to keep him moving. When Trump had almost turned around, he stopped briefly in front of his own delegation. Takaichi then extended his hand to guide him back to the platform.
