Bo Bichette missed most of the postseason due to injury, but was able to return for the World Series. Despite the time away, he produced at the plate like he never left. His performance on baseball’s biggest stage only served to raise his market value.

“I can confirm that Bo Bichette has received interest from multiple teams that see him as a second baseman or third baseman, due to the presence of an established shortstop on those lists. Further evidence that the World Series increased his market value,” published MLB expert Jon Morosi.

Following his performance in the World Series, Bichette is now in line for a massive contract when he hits free agency. He’s enjoyed an impressive year overall and there’s little reason to believe he won’t continue on this upward trajectory.

“The key question facing Bichette’s free agency is how teams will view him positionally. If a club is willing to put up with his shortstop defense, then the comparison to Willy Adames’ deal with the Giants (seven years, $182 million) is a good benchmark. I’m going to assume that will be the case, at least in the short term. I’ll add some extra money due to Bichette’s age advantage and inflation. Seven years, $189 million ($27 million (AAV)),” wrote RJ Anderson of CBS Sports.

Sportsnaut’s Austin Konenski believes Bichette could finally land with the New York Yankees if they decide to trade Jazz Chisholm Jr.

“The New York Yankees are an intriguing option for Bichette. If the Yankees end up trading Jazz Chisholm Jr. to a different team, Bichette could slot in at second base in the future. Chisholm has one year left on his contract, so perhaps New York could make him work defensively without trading him as well. Either way, Bichette joining an AL East rival would be a shocking development,” Konenski wrote.

Bichette signing with the Yankees would send the baseball world into a frenzy. For an American League East rival to snatch up one of the Blue Jays’ biggest young stars would be a clear statement that no player is safe in free agency.

Bichette’s positional versatility only strengthens his value. With or without Chisholm in the picture, he could fit into multiple roles, and Anthony Volpe’s early-season injury gives the Yankees yet another reason to explore the move.
