Woods’ truck collided with the trailer of a slower truck Friday and rolled onto its driver’s side. Woods himself exited the vehicle from the passenger side and spoke with officers who arrived at the scene for some time afterward. Officers observed Woods acting in an impaired manner and arrested him.

At one point, Woods walked into a nearby lane and was called back to the scene. He was heard saying, “Thank you very much. It’s okay. You got it. Bye,” and then told the officer, “I was talking to the president.”
“I feel so bad. He’s having some difficulties. There was an accident and that’s all I know,” Trump said shortly after the Woods incident. “A very close friend of mine, he is an incredible person, an incredible man. But with some difficulties.”Woods told an officer at the scene that he “was very apologetic for what he did last night,” apparently in reference to Trump saying Woods would not play in this year’s Masters.

Trump and Woods have a long history: they have played golf together for many years. Trump awarded Woods the Congressional Medal of Freedom in 2019. Woods is now dating Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr.
Woods was arrested on charges of DUI and refusing to submit to a legal test, and was later released. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and his attorney requested permission for Woods to leave the country for treatment.
