LUCKNOW: The Indian women’s cricket team and the Indian blind women’s cricket team led the honors in the team category by being named ‘Team of the Year’ at the Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA) 2025 on Saturday.
The ceremony in Lucknow recognized athletes from over 45 sporting categories, honoring performances during the judging period from January 1 to December 31, 2025.
This edition reflected a year in which Indian women’s teams delivered results on the world stage and set milestones in both mainstream and disability cricket.
For the Indian women’s cricket team, 2025 marked a watershed year.
The team clinched the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup title, registering their first win in the tournament. The campaign was defined by consistent performances in all departments, with the team remaining undefeated throughout the competition to clinch the title.
In the blind cricket category, the Indian women’s blind cricket team recorded a historic achievement.
They won the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind, becoming the first team to lift the title. The team went through the tournament undefeated, completing an undefeated streak to finish as champions.
The winners were selected by an illustrious jury comprising legendary athletes whose achievements have shaped Indian sports.
Abhinav Bindra, PR Sreejesh, Mithali Raj, Achanta Sharath Kamal, Leander Paes and Devendra Jhajharia formed the panel for this edition.
Their collective experience ensured that the honors reflected performances at all levels, recognizing the contributions that shaped India’s sporting year.
