Richmond Township, Pennsylvania – Two firefighters traveling in a utility vehicle along Pennsylvania Avenue while searching for a missing woman died in a head-on collision with a vehicle, officials said.

The two members of the Walnuttown Fire Company died after a collision with a Toyota Camry around 6 p.m. Saturday, about 45 miles (72 kilometers) northwest of Philadelphia. Fire Chief Jeff Buck and Assistant Fire Chief Robert Schick Jr. were heading northbound when they were struck by a sedan heading southbound on Route 222, the Berks County coroner said.

NBC Philadelphia reported The utility vehicle was driving on the side of Route 222 when the Camry veered off the road. Police told the station that a man and a woman were in the Camry when it crashed and were later arrested.

A video from the scene shows the car on its side.

No further details about the arrest or search for the missing woman were immediately available on Sunday.

A call and email for information were made to the Fleetwood Police Department.

Autopsies on the two firefighters, both Fleetwood residents, are scheduled for Monday.

“At this time, we would like to send our thoughts and prayers” to the Shik and Buck families, Walnuttown Fire Company said in a Facebook post. “Take it easy, chiefs, we got it from here.”
