UFC 325 preview
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is live TONIGHT (Saturday, January 31, 2026) with the second numbered event of the Paramount+ era. UFC 325 is the first Paramount+-streamed event to take place outside the United States. We’re actually in Australia for this one, inside the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.

Tonight’s main event is Alexander Volkanovski vs. Diego Lopez 2 for Volkanovski’s UFC featherweight title. The Australian reclaimed that belt with a decision win over Lopes last year (see highlights). That was a pretty exciting fight, with the crafty Volkanovski proving he had too much for the rather one-note Lopes.
However, Lopes said he has “arranged a lot of things” for this fight.
Tonight’s co-main event is Dan Hooker vs. Benoit Saint-Denis in the lightweight division. Hooker had his brakes removed Arman Tsarukian in one of the final events of 2025. Since then, he said he just wants to ruin other guys’ title chances. Saint-Denis, who broke out Beneil Dariush recently, he hopes to keep his title aspirations intact until Saturday.
The UFC 325 main card also has Rafael Fiziev vs. Mauricio Ruffy. Both guys are coming off losses. Fiziev lost by decision Justin Gaethje last year. We just saw that Gaethje is still pretty good. Ruffy was dominated by Saint-Denis in their last fight.

Completing the main card is Tai Tuivasa vs. Tallison Teixeira and Quillan Salkilld vs. Jamie Mullarkey. Tuivasa has been out for some time, after suffering his fourth consecutive defeat. Teixeira seeks to recover after his quick defeat against Derrick Lewis in his debut main event last year. Salkilld has made a huge impact in the UFC with two thunderous knockouts. He has a compatriot as a short-term opponent in Sydney.
The “Prelims” of UFC 325 are headed by Tafa Junior vs. Billy Elekana. There are some pretty good prospects on tonight’s card. Cam Rowston will be tested by Cody Brundage. AND Jonathan Micallef He has a tough fight scheduled with Elliott Oban. The first “Preliminaries” have a lot of Road to UFC fights, the 20 year old Sangrangbo could be something to keep in mind (and not just to detect possible betting irregularities).

UFC 325 PLAY-BY-PLAY UPDATES
First preliminaries
Sulangrangbo vs. Lawrence Lui: Sulangangbro showed good quickness and threw good combos. But Lui walked forward throughout the fight and was able to combine his strikes with takedowns. I think he also benefited from Eugene Bareman’s good coaching in the corner. I marked it 29-28 Lui.
Official decision: Lawrence Lui defeated. Sulangrangbo by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
