UHY Hacker Young, a UK-based network of chartered accountants, has promoted Michelle Hughes to partner in its Kent offices, effective 1 May 2026.

Hughes first joined the firm in 2017 and became a chartered accountant in 2019.

He has been part of the audit and accounts team, working in large and complex corporate groups, including structures with foreign subsidiaries.

Andrew Cooper, managing partner of UHY Hacker Young Kent office, said: “Michelle’s promotion to partner reflects her long-term dedication, hard work and ongoing contribution throughout her time at our Kent offices.

“She has been a valued colleague over the years and I am confident that she will continue to make a significant contribution in her new role and play an important role in the company’s continued growth and success.”

In 2021, UHY Hacker Young promoted Hughes to chief audit officer.

He has supported clients across a wide mix of business sectors and organization sizes. Additionally, he has worked with charities and other non-profit entities, such as academies.

UHY Hacker Young added that Hughes has a “deep understanding” of UK generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP).

Hughes said: “I am delighted to become a partner at UHY Hacker Young in Kent. Having spent most of my career developing within the firm, it is a proud moment for me.

“I have really valued the support of my colleagues over the years and look forward to continuing to work closely with our clients and the team in Kent as we grow the business.”

Last year, UHY Hacker Young expanded its UK coverage and capabilities to serve small and medium-sized businesses with the addition of accounting firm Williamson & Croft.
