The Nittany Lions fell to 3-2 with an impressive defeat against 0-4 UCLA on Saturday. The loss fell to Penn State from the number 7 to the totality of the Top 25 of AP and could also have finished any realistic shot that Penn State had to reach the university football playoffs.

And if Penn State is out, who is in the playoff instead?
There is no good answer at this time. The SEC is full of many very good teams, but a great team or two have not yet emerged from the pack and may never do it. Just look at the loss of Texas against Florida as proof of that premise. The Longhorns are also out of Top 25 in total after the defeat 29-21. During the first six weeks of the season, 11 of the 16 teams in the SEC have at least one loss of conference and only four teams are undefeated in general.
With Penn State outside the mixture and Michigan still need to sharpen some difficult edges in the air game to look like a true playoff contender, the Big Ten is looking at three playoffs teams. If the ACC and Big 12 only get a team in the playoff, there could be – could be – Six SEC teams in the playoff.
We are not willing to get so far. There is still a lot of time for the best SEC teams to exchange victories and losses. So we are adding an ACC team with a very manageable schedule to the playoff.

Here is our last CFP projection.
No. 1. Ohio State (5-0, Big Ten projected champion)
Minnesota had a fleeting moment of Gloria on Saturday with an early 3-0 advantage. All Ohio State did from there was a 42 unanswered points in a victory in the explosion that obtained backup copies in the second half. Julian Sayin had his best game as Buckeye with 326 yards and three touchdowns only four incomplete. Jeremiah Smith caught two of those TD passes and the other went to Carnell Tate. He had nine trapped for 183 yards.
No. 2. Oregon (5-0, to general)
Unlike AP 25, we are not going to leave the Ducks for simply being out in week 6. Oregon should have enough schedule strength to resist a possible loss for Ohio State in the Big Ten title game and still end before an undefeated team in Miami. Speaking of the schedule force, Oregon faces Indiana on Saturday. Can Hoosiers be more competitive than in their two confrontations of Marquee Road in 2024?

No. 3. Miami (5-0, champion of ACC projected)
Miami’s path towards the ACC title game is open after beating No. 25 Florida State. Georgia Tech and Virginia are the only two teams classified in the conference and hurricanes do not face any of the teams. The hardest game of hurricanes remains to be a visit to defend the champion of the regular SMU season. However, the Mustangs are 3-2 and they do not look as strong as they were a season ago.
No. 4. Ole Miss (5-0, champion of the projected SEC)
There are no changes for the rebels this week after they also left in week 6. Ole Miss has its last game of non -conference of the season in week 7 when Washington State arrives in Oxford before the consecutive road games in Georgia and Oklahoma.

No. 12 Memphis (5-0, projected G6 team) in No. 5 Georgia (4-1, At-Large)
The Tigers finally entered the top 25 of AP in No. 23 on Sunday after demolishing Tulsa at home. The American has two classified teams, since South Florida is also back in the ranking. The tigers and the bulls play with each other on October 25. Georgia easily sent Kentucky and addresses Auburn on Saturday night in what has the potential to be a difficult game for bulldogs.
No. 11 Georgia Tech (5-0, At-Large) in No. 6 Texas Tech (5-0, Big 12 projected champion)
Welcome to the Playoffs Georgia Tech. Yellow jackets have a plausible playoff path even with losses in their last two games of the season. The remaining opponents of Georgia Tech are Duke, Syracuse, NC State, Boston College and Pitt. These teams have a combined record of 15-13 and none is classified. Georgia Tech should be favored in all those games before playing Georgia to finish the season and (potentially) Miami in the ACC title game. If yellow jackets are 11-2 with losses for bulldogs and hurricanes, they will have a playoff case.

Texas Tech got the QB Behren Morton to return on Saturday night against Houston and looked like the best of the Big 12 again. Morton had 28 of 40 passes for 345 yards and a TD.
No. 10 Oklahoma (5-0, in general) at number 7 of Indiana (5-0, in general)
We should learn a lot about both teams in week 7 while Oklahoma plays Texas and Indiana Visit Oregon. We will see if the Sooners have John Mateer in the Quarterback after his hand surgery. If Mateer plays and is healthy, Ou could make a defeat with the way in which Texas’s offensive line played against Florida.
Indiana went on Saturday before his trip to the west. The teams in the East and Central time zone that travel to the Pacific Hours zone for a game are 1-3 this year after the defeat of Penn State against UCLA.

No. 9 Alabama (4-1, At-Large) in No. 8 Texas A&M (5-0, At-Large)
The tide is 10-0 at home since Kalen Deboer took over after beating Vanderbilt on Saturday. Now Alabama travels to No. 14 Missouri in week 7. In games away from home since I owe, he took over Nick Saban, Alabama has 4-5.
Texas A&M had a very slow beginning at home against the state of Mississippi before moving away in the fourth quarter for a 31-9 victory. Reuben Owens II hastened 21 times for 142 yards and Mario Craver and Kc Concepción combined to catch 10 of Marcel Reed’s 13 endings for 141 yards and two scores.
