salt lake city — The Salt Lake City prosecutor declined to file charges against the founder of an anti-child trafficking organization — made famous by the 2023 film “Voice of Freedom” — following… Sexual assault allegations By several women in lawsuits.

Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill issued a statement Friday saying there was “insufficient admissible evidence” and his office declined to file charges against Tim Ballard in connection with the allegations.

“This does not mean that we lie or trivialize the survivor’s story, but rather that the law requires evidence strong enough to remove all reasonable doubt before a jury,” Gill said in the statement.

In two lawsuits, the women accused Ballard of using his position as founder of Operation Underground Railroad and their desire to help fight child trafficking to abuse them.

One lawsuit was dismissed with appeal pending, and another remains active, viz The Salt Lake City Tribune reported.

Ballard has denied any wrongdoing and allegations in the lawsuits. Ballard’s attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.

He resigned from the Underground Railroad operation amid sexual assault allegations.
