Diego Pavia knows all about the thrill of victory with Vanderbilt football.

But the quarterback, who is fighting to become a Heisman Trophy finalist, also got what can come with him on Nov. 29, when he led the Commodores to a 45-24 victory against Tennessee in Knoxville.

Pavia said on Dec. 1 during an appearance on the “Bussin’ with the Boys” podcast that he had broken his nose during the game, although he did not say how.

On December 2, he set the record straight during an appearance on Amazon’s “Good Sports” talk show with Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson after Hart noticed Pavia had a black eye.

Let’s say that an official added insult to injury.

“This is a bad story,” Pavia said. “I threw an interception on Saturday. I’m going to make a block. They blocked me in the back. The referee threw the flag and it went through my helmet and around the nose. I think it’s broken.”

Pavia turned the tables on Hart and asked if he had ever broken his nose, to which Hart responded no.

“The Rock never punished you, maybe he just hit you on the nose once?” Pavia asked.

“No, no,” Hart said.
