On Monday, Saint Mary’s coach Randy Bennett agreed to terms to become Arizona State’s next head coach. He replaces Bobby Hurley, whose contract was not renewed after the season after 11 years on the job.

Bennett had been the Gaels’ head coach since 2001 and reached the NCAA tournament 12 times in 25 years. He was a seven-time WCC Coach of the Year, winning the conference’s regular season crown four times and its tournament seven times.
He leaves Saint Mary’s with a record of 589-228.
Bennett is a native of Arizona. He grew up in Mesa and attended Mesa Community College before transferring to UC San Diego.
