Travis Turner, a football coach at Union High School in Virginia, was declared a missing person by Virginia State Police on Sunday. As of Monday afternoon, police were still searching for Turner, who disappeared with his team in the middle of an undefeated season.

Turner, 46, was last seen Thursday. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and glasses, according to WCYB.com. Police were sent to Turner’s residence on Thursday as part of an unrelated investigation, but Turner was not there. Police said they did not go to Turner’s home to arrest the coach.

On Friday, police confirmed they were conducting an active search in Wise County, where Union High School is located. Police did not confirm whether the search was related to Turner’s disappearance.

That same day, a Wise County Schools staff member was placed on paid leave, according to WCYB.com.

“At this time, a staff member has been placed on paid administrative leave while an outside agency reviews an allegation reported to us. This is standard procedure and not a determination of wrongdoing. The division cannot comment further.”

Officials have not identified the individual placed on leave.

On Saturday, police confirmed they were still searching for Turner. He was officially added to the Virginia State Police missing persons database on Sunday.

That search continued Monday, and police officials said they had used drones and K9 units to try to find Turner.
