The stakes are high for Harbaugh’s third season as the Chargers’ head coach, but the offense is in good hands with McDaniel at the helm.
McDaniel was one of the best offensive minds available this offseason and the Chargers hired the highly touted coach.
“There were a lot of things that I found very attractive,” McDaniel said of the organization in his introductory news conference. “I was very fortunate to have some opportunities. I think it started with Coach Harbaugh. Then to be part of an organization that has a legacy, talking about Sid (Gillman) and Air Coryell, that’s super attractive too.

“I have a quarterback I’ve always admired,” McDaniel added. “There are a lot of young players, a great situation for me and my family to move on to the next chapter, something we are very excited about.”
What’s next for the Chargers this offseason?
The Chargers have plenty of cap space to spend in free agency, which begins in less than a month. It’s still unclear where the Chargers will look to spend money, but many experts have suggested the team should focus on bolstering the offensive line.
While Herbert had a 66.1 completion percentage last season, his stat line could be greatly improved with a healthy and strengthened O-line.
