On the Commanders’ first possession, quarterback Josh Johnson uses some misdirection, faking the handoff to running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt before looking the other way and throwing to Samuel. The veteran receiver did the rest, following his blocks and exploding into the open field, where he eventually found Cowboys safety Donovan Wilson. Samuel transported Wilson.

Deebo wasn’t done.
On Washington’s second attempt, he did it again. Johnson finds Samuel in the middle for a first down. He added more after the run, taking Dallas cornerback Trevon Diggs to the ground with a stiff arm.
Injuries have impacted Washington’s wide receiver spacing all season. Samuel, however, has been a mainstay, leading the Commanders in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. These plays highlight Samuel’s strengths, as he remains dynamic with the ball in his hands.
Unfortunately, Samuel has been the only thing that has done well for Washington on Christmas against the Cowboys.
