The musical event, which took place in Central Park the last weekend of the high -level week of the General Assembly, is the flagship event of Global Citizen, the world’s largest movement to end extreme poverty. This year’s alignment included international stars such as Shakira, Cardi B and Rosé.
Mrs. Mohammed took the stage to thank the festival attendees and remind them that there are only five years left to make the sustainable development goals, a plan for a more just future for people and the planet, a reality. “We still have a long way to go,” he told the crowd. “We are moving, but it is not fast enough and the clock is very strong.”
As a special advisor of the former UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, Mrs. Mohammed was instrumental in walking through the objectives and ensuring the consensus of the UN Member States in 2015. Speaking on Friday, she reiterated that $ 4.3 billion is needed each year to finance the objectives and not leave anyone behind.
Give peace a chance
“What really matters is to give peace an opportunity for women in Sudan, for children in Gaza, for the people of Ukraine. We need peace everywhere,” he said, asking for measures to ensure that artificial intelligence does not believe new divisions, so that women are included in each table where decisions are made, for quality education and for the planet, “from the Amazon to the Congo already every corner of the world.”
The UN Deputy Director, urged those who attended to see solutions in which others see the dead ends and use their voice to “cut the noise, demanding that they all do it better and do not accept the globalization of indifference.”
