NEW DELHI: Jason Holder sent a strong message to the rest of the Indian Premier League teams after the Gujarat Titans claimed their third straight win, insisting that the team is still far from its peak despite gaining huge momentum in the playoff race.
Gujarat Titans edged out league leaders Punjab Kings by four wickets in a tense chase, continuing their latest run in IPL 2026. But for Holder, the most dangerous aspect of this run is that the team is yet to put in a complete performance.
“So I think we haven’t played our best game yet, but you know, the nice thing about it is that we’re still getting the two points we need every time we cross the line,” Holder said after the game, underscoring the team’s growing confidence.
Collective effort driving GT resurgence
Holder highlighted that Gujarat’s recent success has been based on teamwork and not individual brilliance.
“The good thing about how we’ve been playing is that it’s not one individual that steps up every day. There are different players that step up on different days,” he said.
That approach has allowed GT to deliver results under pressure, including their latest win, which saw a modest target of 164 reached on just the penultimate ball.
Despite the close finish, Holder made it clear that results matter more than margins at this point in the tournament.
“Look, I think the first priority is always to win the game… the first priority is to get the two points every time we play and build momentum,” he added.
The pace attack sets the tone
While Holder has contributed seven wickets in four matches, he was quick to credit Gujarat pacer Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj for laying the foundation.
“You have to give credit to both KG and Siraj. I think they have been outstanding throughout the competition… they have made it difficult for the opposition,” Holder said.
He also highlighted an unusual tactical approach that has worked in GT’s favor.
“Very rarely have I seen two players bowling three overs in a row in a Powerplay. So it says a lot about their caliber and their quality,” he noted, adding that his spells help set the tone for the rest of the attack.

Generating momentum at the right time
With three consecutive wins, the Gujarat Titans have revived their campaign and are firmly back in contention for a playoff spot. Holder believes consistency, rather than perfection, will be the key going forward.
“We’re on a roll…so it’s a matter of us staying consistent. I think the pace of execution and these types of things will take care of themselves,” he said.
