A West Ham statement said: “Recent results have not matched expectations and the board believes change is necessary.”
They said the process to find Skinner’s replacement is underway.
West Ham finished second from bottom in 2023-24 and fourth from bottom last season.
Their only WSL win this season came at home against Everton on 16 November.
West Ham host Manchester City in the League Cup quarter-finals on Sunday before facing defending champions Chelsea in the WSL on January 11.
