Unlike the second and third tier, the stakes are much higher with winners yet to be crowned and only two teams having secured promotion to League One: MK Dons and Bromley.

So let’s discuss what to expect on Saturday…
Title to the end
MK Dons are currently top of League Two with 85 points, just one ahead of the Ravens who are having a historic season. Paul Warne’s side can clinch the title by beating Fleetwood Town, who are 15th in Lancashire.
However, if they lose or only manage a draw, they could finish second with Bromley hosting 12th-placed Walsall in their game. Andy Woodman’s team just needs to win and hope for the best elsewhere.
An automatic place at stake
There are three teams competing for third place and who will try to avoid having to go through the play-offs.

Cambridge United are currently in third place and are likely to finish second if they win and Bromley lose, but a win against Crewe Alexandra would ensure their return to League One.
Waiting in the wings are fourth-placed Salford City (with 80 points, one behind the U) and Notts County (79 points). Both teams are already guaranteed at least a place in the play-offs, but know that a win could take them to third place.
Salford travel to relegation-threatened Crawley Town, while Notts County host mid-table Bristol Rovers.
Fight for the last place in the play-offs
With Salford, Notts County and also Grimsby Town guaranteed at least a place in the play-offs, that leaves us with one last place and it’s set up perfectly.

Chesterfield are currently in seventh place with 76 points, just one more than Swindon Town, who they visit on Saturday.
Of course, that only means Chesterfield need to avoid defeat to book their place in the play-offs. However, it will be no easy task at the County Ground, especially as the Robins defeated the Spireites earlier this season.
Leaving the Football League..
Bottom line, it seems almost certain that Barrow AFC will be in the National League next season. The Cumbrian team need to win big against Newport County and hope that both Crawley Town and Harrogate Town lose by enough goal margins to nullify any goal difference.

Assuming Barrow are destined to drop, that leaves us with four teams trying to avoid finishing in 23rd place.
Harrogate Town currently have 39 points, as do Crawley Town who have a better goal difference (-24 to Harrogate’s -28). Just above them are two teams with 40 points: Newport (21st, -30GD) and Tranmere Rovers (20th, -25 goal difference).
For Newport and Tranmere, winning is enough. As mentioned, the Exiles will visit bottom-placed Barrow in the league, while Rovers host Grimsby Town, who will finish the season in a play-off position regardless of their result.
If either of those two teams drop points, they will have to worry about what is behind them, especially Newport County, who have the worst goal difference of the four.

Crawley Town only need to match or better Harrogate’s result to stay top, but will host a Salford City team eager for third place. Meanwhile, the Sulphurites host ninth-placed Barnet, who are out of contention for a top seven spot.
It could get tough on Saturday at the bottom, which will make it even more entertaining for neutrals.
