Michigan State football has lost its last two games to open Big Ten Play, so what does that mean when it comes to power ranking for the league?

The Big Ten Huddle podcast has launched updated power classifications after the games last weekend and without surprising Michigan State is close to the bottom of the league. The Spartans reached number 13 of 18 teams, which is also the same place as last week.

Michigan State is 3-2 in general, but 0-2 in the Big Ten game after consecutive road losses in USC and Nebraska. Spartans will seek their first victory at the season conference this week against UCLA.

My thoughts about the power classification

This classification seems correct for Spartans, at least for now. Some of the teams listed before the Spartans (UCLA, Minnesota and Maryland) are in the same class, and could be classified ahead or behind Michigan’s state. However, the remarkable problem that would have with these power classifications is to have Penn State classified below the Spartans. I understand why this was done, but I would still not choose the Spartans about the Nittany Lions if they played this week.
