The Dallas Cowboys have a big question mark in wide receiver CeeDee Lamb heading into their Week 15 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

Lamb suffered what appeared to be a serious concussion in the Week 14 loss to the Detroit Lions that led to his early exit from the contest.

Lamb’s concussion was terrifying, as he displayed the “fencing response” after hitting the ground hard while attempting a catch in the end zone and was immediately ruled out.

Turning the page to Week 15, here’s what we know about Lamb’s status for Sunday.

Will CeeDee Lamb play in Week 15?

We would consider Lamb’s chances of playing against the Vikings to be slightly better than 50/50.

We’ve seen the “fencing response” of a player suffering a concussion several times over the years, but the most notable example was when Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in 2022.

After that concussion, Tagovailoa missed two games. While Tagovailoa has a long and scary history with concussions, that was the first one documented in the NFL, so his concussion history didn’t really play a role there.

On the positive side, both head coach Brian Schottenheimer and executive vice president Stephen Jones said Lamb is making progress earlier this week.

“He’s doing a good job. He’s meeting all the thresholds you need to get to where he can play this week. So far he hasn’t had any setbacks,” Jones explained on 105.3 The Fan on Monday.

Schottenheimer added that Lamb is “doing well, progressing very well” in concussion protocol.

Another thing working in Lamb’s favor is the fact that the Cowboys have three extra days since he suffered the concussion.

Given the positive updates from Schottenheimer and Jones, and the extra time Lamb has, it gives us hope that he can suit up in Week 15.

We’ll get our next update on Lamb on Wednesday, when the Cowboys release their first injury report. A limited practice or more would be a good sign, but remember that Lamb must complete a full practice before he can pass the protocol.
