Will there be an open roof on Thanksgiving Day? Time between Chiefs and Cowboys

It could be the most-watched regular season of all time when the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs, who have a large fan base and polarized public opinion, meet on Thanksgiving Day.

The weather should be dry and pleasant in Arlington on game day, leaving the possibility that AT&T Stadium’s rarely open roof will let in some fresh air. The mostly sunny skies indicate the possibility of late-day sunlight wreaking havoc on the game against the Chiefs through the stadium’s southwest-facing windows.

Weather in Arlington for the game between Chiefs and Cowboys

The National Weather Service in Dallas/Fort Worth predicts temperatures will be around 60 degrees at game time, with no chance of precipitation and light winds. If the stadium roof were open, it should not affect play on the field.

AccuWeather’s forecast is more of the same, with slightly warmer temperatures in the 60s and slightly stronger winds. The forecast also calls for sunny skies and a luminosity index of 9, considered very bright.

How the weather between Chiefs and Cowboys will affect odds and betting

While the roof is likely closed (it was open for only 30 of its first 126 games and had a notable incident in which a piece of metal fell when it was opened last November), the sun could still play a role in the game. Players like catcher CeeDee Lamb have been affected by the sun before and the sunny skies on November 27, along with the impending sunset, could create difficult conditions for visibility on the field.

Betting sites do not anticipate any climate impacts on the game, considering the game is played in the dome.

The visiting Chiefs are 3.5-point favorites as Kansas City fights to stay in the playoff picture. Dallas has a better chance (only 8%) of making the postseason, but a win here would go a long way toward achieving that ambition. The over/under is set at 52 points.

  • The Cowboys lead the all-time series, 7-5, although the teams have not played since 2021, a 19-9 victory for the Chiefs. Dallas is 34-22-1 overall on Thanksgiving.

  • The Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys will play at 4:30 pm ET on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27, 2025. The game will air on CBS affiliates. Jim Nantz and Tony Romo will call the game with sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson.
