Ashcraft joined the Badgers as a three-star recruit in the class of 2023. He was one of several high school prospects who committed to the program after the arrival of Luke Fickell toward the end of the 2022 season.

The Seattle, Washington, native made an immediate impact as a true freshman in 2023, catching eight passes for 86 yards and a touchdown. He then backed that up with a 12-catch, 82-yard, one-touchdown season in 2024, before adding just two catches for 10 yards in four appearances in 2025. A training camp injury and the arrival of veteran transfer Lance Mason factored into that drop in playing time and production.
Ashcraft will enter the portal when it opens on Jan. 2 with two years of eligibility remaining.
The tight end joins a growing list of notable Badgers planning to transfer. As of Dec. 27, that group also includes two depth members: running back Dilin Jones, wide receiver Eugene Hilton, wide receiver Trech Kekahuna, wide receiver Joseph Griffin Jr., cornerback Geimere Latimer, linebacker Christian Alliegro, linebacker Tackett Curtis, center Jake Renfro, running back Cade Yacamelli and punter Atticus Bertrams.
Wisconsin’s tight end position is in flux heading into 2026. Notably, Mason is one of several players seeking a court order for an additional year of eligibility. The ruling in that case will likely dictate the program’s transfer strategy in the position.
