On3 reported Wednesday, Dec. 10, that the Wisconsin Badgers’ redshirt sophomore wide receiver’s agent said Kekahuna intends to enter the transfer portal. He also entered the portal after last season but the UW convinced him to change his mind.

Kekahuna did not make a post announcing his intention to transfer, but did repost the post about his impending transfer on his Instagram page. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
Kekahuna’s departure is the most shocking loss the Badgers have suffered in the portal thus far. The Hawaii native was UW’s No. 1 receiver this season.
According to Pro Football Focus, he ranked third on the team with 44 targets, five behind Vinny Anthony and Lance Mason. But playing for an offense that ranks 133rd out of 134 teams in total offense, Kekahuna’s statistics suffered. His 26 receptions were one more than last season, but with 221 yards his average yards per catch fell to 8.1 yards compared to 13.6 in 2024.
Offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes tried to get him the ball with sweeps or throws. As a result, Kekahuna ranked fourth among the Badgers with 129 rushing yards on 14 carries, an average of 9.2 yards per attempt.

Grimes’ offense, however, was unable to consistently unlock Kekahuna’s great potential in the passing game.
The portal will be officially open from January 2 to 16.
