State Police looking for 75 -year -old missing pilot who took off in a small plane in Indiana County

The State Police of Pennsylvania is asking for help to find a missing pilot who took off in a small plane in Indiana County on Wednesday night and did not return.

The soldiers said David Edward Wittmer, 75, was flying the ultralight plane and practiced landings in a field near Church Street in Young Township. It was reported that it took off from the field around 6 pm at 6:30 pm and has not yet returned.

The Wittmer truck was found near the field, and his phone was located inside a nearby caravan he was using.

According to a state police statement, investigators believe that Wittmer is likely and the plane is inside a two -to -six miles field radius. They added that, however, the plane can have a range of up to 100 miles.

The state soldiers, the members of the PSP Aviation Patrol unit and the local firefighters searched during the night and resumed the search again on Thursday morning.

Wittmer is described as 6 feet, 1 inch high, with a weight of 180 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes.

Any person with information should call 911 immediately.
