Deposed Tyran Syrian Bashar al-Assad was poisoned in Russia just below the nose of his friend Vladimir Putin, according to a human rights control agency.
The Syrian Human Rights Observatory on Thursday that Al-Assad was urgently taken to an emergency room near Moscow on September 20 and was in critical condition in an intensive care unit. He was released last week after recovering, the group said.
Rami Abdul Rahman, director of the organization, said a “reliable source” told him that Al-Assad was attacked in a “poisoning operation.” According to the reports, the fallen Syrian dictator was poisoned while he was at home in a villa near Moscow that is strongly protected by the Russian authorities.
“We ask the Russian authorities to clarify what happened and who poisoned it,” Rahman wrote. “The source confirmed that the Russian government had nothing to do with the matter, but it may have been destined to involve the Russian government.”
Rahman, the people behind the alleged poisoning operation, had no links with Syrian or the United States, Rahman added.
“If he was killed or not, the Russian government is responsible and has not yet responded to the matter,” he said.

According to the reports, Al-Assad allowed his brother Maher and his main assistant Manosour Azzam to visit him at the hospital. The strong man lives with his entourage in the Russian town, where his brother had also made a visit, according to the report.
The former dictator aligned to the Kremlin was in power for two decades until last year, when the rebels overthrew and forced him to flee to Moscow.
The Telegram General SVR account, which states that it is directed by a former superior spy in Russia, alleged in December that Al-Assad was poisoned in an attempt to murder.
The fact verification website questions the report of the Telegram account, pointing out its history of doubtful claims and the lack of independent confirmation.
Al-Assad’s wife Asthma, meanwhile, has been fighting leukemia. His father told The Daily Beast last year that he wanted to return to his native London because “his state of health cannot be properly monitored in Moscow.”
