atlanta — A man accused in a A series of shootings Three people, including a Department of Homeland Security employee who was walking her dog, near Atlanta, died in prison Tuesday night, authorities said.
Olokitan Adon Abel, 26, was found unconscious in his cell, according to a statement from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. Officials took life-saving measures to save the life of the US Navy veteran, but he was later declared dead.
The official cause of death has not been determined, but officials do not suspect foul play, according to the office. Officials are conducting an internal review.
Adon Appel is accused of killing Brianna Weathers, 31, and Department of Homeland Security auditor Lauren Polis, 40, in an attack last week. Authorities were also seeking an additional murder charge against Tony Matthews, 49, who was injured in the attack and died Sunday.
Authorities did not provide a possible motive for the shooting. It is unclear whether Adon Abel knew any of the victims, as police said they believe at least one was randomly targeted.
