Washington– A work vehicle collided with a commuter train in downtown Washington early Wednesday, injuring 11 people, officials said.

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority said in a post on social media that the stopped Silver Line train collided just after midnight at the MetroCenter station.

The station is a major transfer point in the railway system. Metro said the injuries were not considered life-threatening, but did not provide details on the severity or types of injuries.

Metro warned riders Wednesday morning to expect delays throughout the system while the collision is investigated. Some trains were using only one track in the area.
