A cyber attack on the aviation technology provider based in the United States, Collins Aerospace, has paralyzed some of the most busy airports in Europe, forcing thousands of passengers to face delays and flight cancellations on Saturday (September 20). The Heathrow London airport, the most busy center in Europe, together with the Brussels airport and Berlin airport, has been seen as the maximum, affecting Check-in systems and boarding the entire continent. Dublin and Cork airports in Ireland then reported that they were also experiencing lower cyber incident.According to a report by the Reuters news agency, the attack began on Friday night, making inoperable automated check-in and falling luggage systems, which forced airports to trust manual processes that significantly slowed down the operations.

Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of the RTX defense contractor, confirmed that he was dealing with a “cyber interruption” to his software in multiple locations.“The impact is limited to the client’s electronic check-in and the fall of luggage and can be mitigated with manual registration,” RTX said in a statement.Aviation Data Provider Cirium reported that 29 exits and arrivals had been canceled in the three main airports affected in the afternoon. The interruption occurs in what should have been an occupied travel day, with 651 scheduled departures from Heathrow, 228 from Brussels and 226 of Berlin.Brussels Airport warned passengers of significant delays, informing an average one -hour delay for all flights that come out and 10 cancellations. The airport website advised travelers to confirm their flights with airlines before heading to the terminal.“This has a great impact on flight schedule and unfortunately will cause delays and cancellations,” said Brussels Airport.The cyber incident has left thousands of travelers in Limbo, and many airlines cannot provide adequate support in affected airports. Passengers are recommended to plan to travel through affected airports to consult with their airlines for the latest flight information and allow additional time for manual registration procedures until the systems are completely restored.
