Transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano has put Barcelona in the spotlight, this time revealing new developments in his pursuit of Alessandro Bastoni.

The Catalan giants are known to be actively working to strengthen their defence, and the Italian centre-back has become a priority target ahead of the team’s next planning phase.

According to the latest update from the Italian journalist, Bastoni’s representatives have already started contacts with Barcelona and the conversations are focused on the framework of a possible contract.

These early negotiations have reportedly covered key aspects, including salary expectations, financial structure and long-term terms.

Barcelona is quite serious.

Barcelona’s intention is serious and that message has been firmly communicated during the conversations.

Interestingly, the club is not considering including players in a swap deal, something that was previously reported.

On the players’ side, the signs are equally encouraging. Bastoni is believed to be genuinely intrigued by the sports project being built in Catalonia.

In fact, as previously reported, he is so convinced of the idea that he is not considering offers from other clubs at the moment.

However, the financial aspect of the deal remains complicated. Reports have varied significantly on its valuation, with figures ranging from €50 million to €90 million.

These figures, although widely circulated, are not linked to any formal negotiations with Inter Milan, who still maintain a strong position in this situation.

Bastoni’s current contract runs until 2028, meaning Inter are under no pressure to sell.

The Italian team maintains total control, especially considering that the player himself has not pushed to leave so far.

Despite this, Barcelona are also making their move count financially.

Bastoni currently earns around 7 million euros per season, but the Catalan club has already presented better conditions to its team.

The proposed wage package is understood to be significantly higher, showing Barcelona’s intent to secure one of Europe’s most reliable defenders.
